Yesterday I went on a hike that was just going to be a little hour or so dog walk. When I got to the top of the Bridal Veil Falls, which is at the end of Telluride Valley, I just had to keep going. I was parked at about 9000 feet in altitude, and by the time I got to the top of the trail, I was at about 12,200 feet. This is definitely the highest Izze and Dusty have been, and I think it might be a winner for me as well.

One of the big reason’s I’m in Telluride this weekend is the Telluride Film Festival. The documentary I edited, Burn On The Bayou, did not get selected to screen, but since today is the 3rd Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina coming ashore, I thought I might do a little guerrilla marketing. I’ve printed up posters and post cards and I’m going to hand them out and talk to people about it. I am also going to try and bug the film fest organizers into showing it in one of the TBA slots. We’ll see. 😉

This afternoon a huge column of smoke rose up that looked like a mushroom cloud from a nuclear explosion. I could see it from Moab and was going to go look at the location of the Slickrock Trailhead. The smoke was further away from Moab than was Slickrock, and I was curious, so I headed towards the column of smoke.

I feel that the 3 days I’ve spent in Moab won’t be enough. I think I’ll try and come back in the spring when the weather is a little cooler. It’s been in the high 90’s with no break. I haven’t had enough time to explore as much as I’d like, especially the mountain biking trails. I’m going to ride the Slickrock trail tomorrow, but there are countless others to choose from.
