Sorry – it is too easy of a joke. This elk had just finished scratching his antlers and head and ears on the tree you can see behind him (look at the bark). I just wanted to run down there and scratch his ears for him!
the last couple of days were much better in yellowstone – so much better that it seemed like everything was a vivid blue. the sky was clear, the animals were out, the dogs were barking – wait – shhhhhhh – no bark!
as i came to the top of a pass there was an overlook. i stopped and had some lunch. i came across some cute critters that were nuts… about nuts.
There was no room in any campgrounds in Yellowstone for the first two nights I planned on being there, because they were all booked up except for the first-come-first-serve campgrounds, which were all too far away from where I wanted to be. I drove in from West Yellowstone, down along several rivers to end up at Old Faithful. Along the way I saw some cool waterfalls, swimming holes, elk, and hot springs.
